    Pros +

    • The location was lovely as expected it to be.
    • Location was fab. Basic accommodation, but clean.
    • Location good for windermere and exploring lake district. Nice and quiet area, not too busy.

    Cons -

    • The condition of the whole hotel felt old and dated. It needs a big makeover. Shower was backing up with water and the hot water didn't get very warm. Then we asked about having dinner and they said there was no tables but the whole restaurant was 80% empty.
    • Could be more facilities for when you take your dog. A doggy station with biscuits/water at breakfast would be appropriate when you’re paying £20 per night.
    • Hotel a bit dated, and a bit of a maze to the room. Some of the corridors had a dodgy smell, but room was ok. Breakfast was ok, not the best I've had at a hotel. Nothing against hiring people from other countries but i dont think staff should speak in different languages in front of guests. If visiting the area again i would probably stay in bowness-on-windermere as it had more to offer as a tourist.

We didn’t like nothing because hotel closed for refurbishment from 1st November

We didn’t get a room which was booked because hotel is closed for refurbishment

    4GregoryPosted on: 11-2-2025

    Breakfast was Alright.

Hotel was very tired, no lift to the room, and the restaurant was very poor with very little choice. Carpet on stairs taped down, wall paper coming off the walls. Pay for parking on the front of the hotel.

    3RichardPosted on: 11-2-2025

We did not use the restaurant during our visit due to the low standards experienced on our first attempt to use ie no menu staff reciting what was available also witnessing a member of staff licking his fingers then processing to get cutlery out a tray and giving it to a customer

The hotel requires a refurb also during a three night stay we had no room service

Great location, beautiful view of the lake from the room.

It needs a major overhaul. It’s dark depressing, old and tired. The bed and bedroom furniture are from the 1970s. The bar wasn’t open and the place was sad.

Breakfast was fine. Great location. Helpful reception.

Hotel is a little tired. There is a small ajoining bar which was very quiet but not very helpful..lacked food options.

    6PaulPosted on: 11-1-2025

    Parking was easy

No hotel bar open, breakfast felt rushed

    6DavidPosted on: 11-1-2025

    Good location and view

Hotel needs some refreshing its a little run down in places. Breakfast system is terrible having to book a time slot the day before is stupid so eat out just glad I didn't pre pay for it. Parking is pretty bad, one day couldnt get parked paid for the one over the road at the train station, but still got charged for the full three nights from the hotel

    8JonathanPosted on: 10-31-2025

    Extremely clean

Looked a little outdated, being charged for parking isn’t great

    Staff were lovely and approachable

Hotelnin need of refurbishment, though told by staff that this is due to happen 2026

    7DiannePosted on: 10-30-2025

The hotel is on a hill so you get lovely views. Very close to train station and buses. Also in a nice quiet area, but still close to everything

The lift was not working which was very problematic for me as I have mobility issues and we were on the top floor.

Lovely room, great location. Good shower pressure. Comfortable bed.

I got a parking fine, even though I had tried to put in my reg. I am arguing it with Horizon, the parking company, but have had no responses. Please be careful parking.

    6MariePosted on: 10-29-2025

The outside was really nice, plenty of parking too. Room was on the ground floor. Bed was comfortable too.

Room very plain and basic. Really could do with modernising. Not what you would expect from the look of the outside. Tv didn’t work properly only could get signal for a couple of channels plus the tv was really small.

It is conveniently located for a walk into Windermere. The radiators were hot, so we weren’t cold in late October. The staff seemed friendly enough from the few interactions we had.

Sadly, everything else was awful. The beds are like rocks, and there is damp, rust and decay all around the property. Towel rails were rotting, with wires visible inside bathrooms. The chairs inside the bedrooms were very well worn, and the whole building is in a state of disrepair. We booked two ‘superior’ rooms, so can’t comment about any of the other rooms. The restaurant was closed in preparations for some refurbishment — not mentioned on any site so we had to go out for dinner. The breakfast was a sad-looking buffet with bland coffee served in little metal teapots. And to top it all off, parking (in the hotel car park) is £6 per night, in an effort to squeeze every last penny from you before you realised you should have just booked an AirBnB instead, and never return.

The hotel is in a prime location, right across from the train station. It's adjacent to a small town, making it convenient to go shopping and grab a bite in town. The room is also spacious enough.

The hotel is very old. It’s cold outside tonight. So I wanted to take a hot shower so badly, but I found the water was not hot at all! It was only warm at beginning and getting colder soon. I felt even colder when showering and couldn’t finish my shower. So I stopped and went a long way to reception to ask the staff there to come check. He came and said because the hotel is very old. So it’s normal the water is not hot when a lot of people taking shower at the same time, and asked me to wait for an hour to try again. His attitude was very cold and terrible, stepped on the towel on the floor directly with his shoes. When I asked what does the hotel use to heat water. he just replied I am not technician, I don’t know, the hotel is poor, very old… Not comforting at all. It’s really hard to tolerate no hot shower water in a hotel especially in cold weather.

Accomodation clean and comfortable. Food good.

Having to pay to park the car

    2StevenPosted on: 10-27-2025

    Location good

No hot water during stay, complained three times, didn't get sorted during our stay, hotel in need of cleaning and being refurbished.
